SOL JOURNEY THERAPY

A little about me
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am a first-generation Mexican American woman, mother of two amazing children, and fluent in Spanish. I have been working as a therapist for over fourteen years. My interest in becoming a therapist began when I first worked in an elementary school. I observed children thriving when they had emotional support and family involvement. That experience drew me to specialize in working with children, women, and parents. Growing up as a first-generation Latina also influenced my professional journey, as I was aware of the mental health stigma and how the generations before me were understandably preoccupied with surviving. These experiences have led me to want to help normalize mental health care by creating a safe space where we can look deeper, explore how we can change dysfunctional generational patterns and trauma & embody living with inner joy rather than just living to survive.

I have been trained in various modalities and believe in the importance of tailoring care to the unique individual. Therefore, I often use an eclectic approach that draws from a variety of therapeutic methods, including acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, grief therapy, mindfulness, and more. However, my heart always draws me back to attachment, inner child, and somatic work. In our sessions, I will use a collaborative approach to ensure that the tools or steps that we are taking in therapy feel useful and doable for you. I also like to incorporate a variation of breathing and grounding exercises into our sessions with a little humor sprinkled in.
We will make connections in our sessions together by exploring different perspectives, being curious and practicing self-compassion. This will help you gain a better understanding of yourself and help you discover what you need in life to find more joy. I will help you see the best in yourself and recognize the parts in you that you would like to evolve in. It is a privilege to be part of your therapeutic journey!
